The Team

What is important to us?

At KA Conversations we share an appreciation of being connected with others. We live in a web of relationships, connections with others. We do not believe that dependency is a weakness, or evidence of a lack of inner strength. Our own experiences have taught us that recognising that one needs others and can respectfully, with appreciation ask for help and gracefully accept and utilise the help offered.

Whether in the context of parenting, adult couple relationships, family, or in friendships, we believe that we do not live our lives in isolation. Others can be the source of inspiration and utter joy; however, they can also be sources of worry and anxiety. Loving someone and caring about others is a risky business. Allowing for the feelings to flow means that one consciously decides to be somewhat vulnerable. No one wants to get hurt. Another way of putting it, is that living life is equivalent to experiencing a range of emotions. One needs to navigate through the ups and downs (as well as the flat bits) of loving and living.

We agree with those who believe that it is important that we live life to the fullest. We take note of others, support one another and with appreciation be on this journey together. Life can put a lot of obstacles in the way, which means we are faced with challenges to overcome. Life is not easy. There are predictable transitions and life cycle changes that can be expected, whereas others can be sudden and very unexpected. The importance is how we face and deal with them, individually and together.

With KA Conversations we have created a central point bringing our qualities and skills as people, friends and colleagues together in aid of helping others live more intentionally and harmoniously.

As an intercultural couple (Netherlands, South Africa, Surinam) Heidi and Ramón understand that communication is an ongoing project.

We are couple and family therapists and registered systemic supervisors. We have 25+ years experience working with couples in relationship distress, and families. As trainers we have been working with many students and other therapists in the helping professionals to optimise their work and look after themselves to ensure they can continue to support their clients.

We are pleased to work with Rudi Dallos who himself is a refugee and shares personal connections with us, as well as well as a passion about peoples' relationships and attachment processes. It is one of those relationships that inspires, is full of laughter, and co-creating amazing conversations, whether about systemic practices, attachment theory, working on our own PPD, or about other connections, such as our love for food, music and our adults children.
